ITEM 2: Recently a Geography department at Tuwangudde SS in bukiwe district carried a field work trip in the area shown in the photograph below on how physical environment has affected land use activities in the area and the problems faced by people living in the area.Unfortunately some few students missed this education research tour because of unavoidable reasons on that very day of the trip. The Geography department decided to formulate groups of about 10 students in each group with in senior three class after the trip and tasked them to provide a relevant report concerning the relief of the area, findings on how the physical environment has affected the land use activities and the problems faced by people living in the area. A group cordinator of that specific group that missed the field work trip has contacted you to provide him with the relevant report before their Geography teacher meets them in their Next lesson

- Task
(a) Draw a landscape sketch to show the above features shown in the photograph
(b) Describe the relief of the area.
(c) Explain how the physical environment has affected the land use activities in the area
(d) Describe the problems faced by people living in the area
(a)The following is the description of the relief in the area..

(b)The following is the description of relief
- There is a lake basin in the middle ground.
- There is a lowland in the middle background
- Ther are gentle slopes in the middle background .
- There are steep slopes in the left background.
- There are uplands in the left background
- Note:
- Relief _ck
- Location/ground _ Ap
- Amere identification of the relief features with out attaching the location/ground will be a wastage of time because a learner will not score
(C) The following are ways how physical environment has affected human activities in the area.
- The presence of lowlands in the middle background has favoured the establishment of settlements because of easy constructions.
- The presence of uplands in the left background has favoured the establishment of communication masts due to easy transmission of signals.
- The presence of steep slopes in the background has favoured forestry because of deep fertile soils..
- (d) The following are problems faced by people living in the area.
- Water Borne diseases like bilharzia due to presence of a lake in the middle ground which claims people's lives.
- Water accidents like drowning due to presence of a lake in the middle ground which claims people's lives and Loss of people's properties.
- Attacks from dangerous aquatic animals like Crocodiles due to presence of a lake which attack and claim people's lives.
- Destructive floods due to presence of a lake in the middle ground that destroy people's properties.
- Severe coldness especially during night time due to presence of a lake in the middle ground leading to spread of diseases.
- Soil erosion due to presence of steep slopes in the left background which destroys people's properties.
- Landslides due to presence of steep slopes in the Left back ground that destroy people's properties.
- Difficulty in use of agricultural machines due to presence of steep slopes in the left background leading to low agricultural output.
- Difficulty in constructing transport routes due to presence of steep slopes in the left background making the areas inaccessible.
- Difficulty in constructing settlements due to presence of steep slopes in the left background hence increasing construction costs
- Attacks from dangerous wild animals due to presence of forests in the left background which claims people's lives.
- Attacks from harmful pests due to presence of forests in the left background that may claim people's lives.
- Limited land for agriculture because of steep slopes in the background leading to low agricultural output.
- Limited land for settlements because of steep slopes in the left background that may result into land conflicts.
- Note:
- Problem _ck
- Effect of the problem _Cu
- Location/Ground _ Ap
- Learners should aim at giving the ending results of the problems identified from the photographs with evidences inorder to score the maximum.
- A mere identification of the problem and attaching the ground without explaining the effect of that problem will not make the learner to score.
